Rev. Jimmie Slaughter Carr
Retired Baptist Minister
THOMSON, Ga. - Rev. Jimmie Slaughter Carr, 81, Austin Street,
entered into rest Saturday, March 12, 2011, at McDuffie Regional
Medical Center. Mr. Carr was the beloved husband of Betty Golden
Carr.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011,
from the Marshall Baptist Church with the Revs. Bruce Poss and Phillip
Gandy officiating. Interment services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday,
March 17, 2011 from the Resthaven Cemetery, Lanett, Alabama with
the Revs. Dexter James and Howard Golden officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert Rozier, Mike Madden, Jason
Brooks, David Lloyd, William Lloyd, James Lloyd, Zeke Lloyd and
Ethan Lloyd. Members of the Marshall Baptist Church Men's II Sunday
School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
A native of Ashland, Alabama Mr. Carr was a retired Baptist minister
serving a number of churches in the south since 1955. Having last served
at Bethany Baptist Church, Mr. Carr was a graduate of Howard College
now known as Sanford University. He also attend the New Orleans
Baptist Seminary and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He had lived in Alabama most of his life before making his home in
Thomson from Phenix City , Alabama about three years ago.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Lynn Carr
and Lisa Bolton and husband Madison, all of Thomson; a sister, Mavis
L. Fields, Hugley Alabama; grandchildren, Matt Bolton, Glen Bolton,
Ginny Bolton, Rebekah Bolton, Jonathan Rosenburg, Joel Rosenburg
and Joy Rosenburg; great-grandchildren Gabby Bolton, Micah Bolton,
Kade Bolton, Blake Davis, Hunter Bolton, Natalie Bolton, Aiden
Bolton, Chase Bolton and Delaney Bolton.
Memorials may be made to the Marshall Baptist Church Building
Fund, International Mission Fund or Mission Trip Fund, 436 Marshall
Church Road, Thomson GA 30824.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
