Thomson High School golfers defeated the visitors from Jefferson County at Belle Meade Country Club on March 8. The Bulldogs' top four scores totaled 169; the Warriors combined for 241.
Thomson's Ethan Chamineak was the match medalist at 36. Jackson Douglas notched a 43, and Charlie Barmore and Jason English each had a 45. All four are seniors.
Jefferson County freshman Tyler Hadden led his team with a 52. Also in the scoring were: Justin Hopper, 60; Seth O'Steen, 62; and senior Michael Bell, 67. Ron Delegrange coaches the Warriors.
"Ethan's 36 was even-par," Thomson coach Chris Hodges wrote in an e-mail. "We are just inconsistent right now. Our top four are all capable of shooting close to par. We just have to keep working on minimizing our mistakes and not letting bad shots turn into bad holes,"
"The region tournament is over a month away, so we have some time to get things the way we want," Hodges wrote.
Thomson narrowly lost a March 7 contest against Grovetown at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans.
Jackson Douglas was match medalist, with a 37. Barmore recorded a 38, English a 42, and Chamineak a 43.
Grovetown scorers were: Garrett Spivey, 38; Martre Linde, 39; Matt Price, 40; and Austin Coleman, 41.
Thomson's boys and girls golf teams were scheduled to be in action Tuesday, playing host to Greenbrier and Lakeside.
