WINTER HAVEN, Fla. --- Freshman Cody Ewest of Warrenton collected three hits, including a grand slam, to help lift Becker College past UMass Dartmouth 13-8 in nonconference men's baseball action March 16.
The Corsairs held a 6-2 lead by the middle of the fifth inning.
The Hawks regained control when Ewest ripped the first pitch he saw over the leftfield fence for a grand slam, tying the game at 6-6.
Ewest, who plays third base, finished the day 3 for 4 with six RBI and two runs scored.
Junior Weston Meehan, a catcher from Thomson, broke out of an early season slump, going 3 for 4 with an RBI.
Sophomore Austin Phillips, a second baseman, also is on the Becker roster.
The Hawks improved to 4-2 on the year.
