The Thomson Kiwanis Club is gathering new and slightly used sports gear to help the McDuffie County Recreation Department summer sports program.
Greg Derry, the chairman of the club's public service committee, said collection points have been set up at several local businesses. The public is invited to donate shin guards, ball gloves, cleats and similar equipment.
Collection boxes have been set up at: Wayne's Oil & Lube, Grand Rental Station, Jarvis McNair's BBQ, both Regions Bank branches in Thomson, Cherry, Beckhert, & Holland, WTHO, the Recreation Department and the McDuffie County Tax Commissioner's Office.
Coaches will distribute the equipment according to need.
