Thomson High School's boys soccer team defeated A.R. Johnson by a score of 5-1 March 25 at the Thomson field.
Thomson's Talles Cardoso scored a hat trick, and Justin Bettross and Will Land each scored once.
"Cullen Wallace, in his first start at keeper in the regular season. played extremely well and made several beautiful saves throughout the game," coach Zack Tucker said in an e-mail.
"Overall the team played well. We started the game with a quick goal less than one minute into the game," Tucker said. "After our first goal we pulled back some and played lethargic."
At halftime the score was 2-0. A.R. Johnson scored first in the second half to make it 2-1.
"After the score we picked up our pressure and started beating A.R. Johnson to the ball once again," Tucker wrote. "We added two more penalty-shot goals in the second half by Justin and Will, and Talles added his third goal to make the score 5-1."
