Home is second dream for Woods

About 20 years ago, Tom and Dianne Wood built their dream house. Eight years later, someone made Tom an offer he could not refuse. Needless to say, Dianne was not happy.

But that was then.

Today, the Woods open wide their double front doors and welcome guests to their home in Belle Meade subdivision. The European-style house they've lived in for 13 years is obviously home sweet home.

The open floor plan features large Oriental rugs scattered over oak floors. Large windows allow sunlight into each room.

"I'm claustrophobic, and Tom's good about putting in windows and doors for me to see outside," Dianne said. "So there are a lot of windows, and most of them are uncovered. We fight fading all the time, but I like seeing out."

Tom, a homebuilder, designed and built the house with input from Dianne. The many large windows make the house almost seamless with the backyard, which features a veranda, flower gardens and trees, bird feeders and in-ground pool.
