The McDuffie County School Board approved a list of personnel changes last week.
At its meeting April 14 the board accepted the resignation of Dr. Laura Hughes as principal of Norris Elementary School, effective at the end of this school year.
Dr. Lynn Cato, an assistant principal at Thomson High School, was named to the Norris post.
Cato told The Mirror that she realized the challenge of her new position but that growth only comes through change.
High school Principal Rudy Falana said Cato has been an asset and will be missed.

Randall Hickman was hired to fill an immediate vacancy as a bus maintenance technician, and Michael Sutphin was hired as a permanent substitute driver and monitor.
The board accepted the resignation of high school teacher and baseball coach Jason Osborn, who is moving from the district after this school year.
Claudia Wells, high school art teacher, submitted her retirement, effective at the end of the school year.
