Mr. Donald R. "Papa Don" Fletcher
LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Donald R. "Papa Don"
Fletcher, 88 entered into rest Monday, April 18 at VA
Medical Center, Augusta, Ga.
A memorial service celebrating his life was held at 2 p.m.
on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Anthony's Chapel with the
Rev. Jim Leonard officiating and Eddie Turner assisting.
Mr. Fletcher was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II
and received a Silver Star for gallantry in action at Trier,
Germany. He also received a Silver Star for exceptional
performance of duty in the European Theatre. "Papa Don"
will be greatly missed by his family , many friends and
all whose lives he touched during the 88 years that God
granted him on this earth. He welcomed many with open
arms into Noah's Ark, Place of Rest. Additionally, he served
on the Board of Directors at the Augusta Rescue Mission
and was an advisor for the Woman's Aglow and member of
Full Gospel. He spent his last 30 years serving the Lord and
touching many lives.
Survivors include two sons: Ed Fletcher , and wife , Paula
and George Fletcher, and wife, Carolyn all of Lincolnton;
a brother, Clifford Fletcher, Michigan; 3 Grandchildren:
Shannon F. Jiles and husband, Keith; George C. Fletcher
II; Kelly F. Phillips, and husband, Tracy; 4 Greatgrandchildren:
Lana Jiles, Alexis Fletcher, Brittany Phillips,
and Gracie Phillips.
Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his wife of sixty
two years, Reba Fletcher and grandson, Eddie Fletcher.
