Property owners to get notices

The McDuffie County Board of Assessors will be sending out annual notices of assessment on Friday to every property owner in the county, Chief Appraiser Linda Thurmond announced Monday.

Thurmond said the notices, which are being sent to every property owner for the first time, indicate the property's 2011 value for tax purposes. It is not a tax bill.

The notice includes an estimated tax amount based on last year's millage. She said that could change, depending on what happens to the millage this year.

Tax bills will be mailed in the fall.

Anyone who has questions or did not receive a notice within seven to 10 days can call (706) 595-2128.
