THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Henry Grady
Montgomery, Jr., 80 of Thomson, entered
into rest April 26, 2011, at his residence.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m.,
Friday, April 29, 2011 at the First United
Methodist Church, Thomson with Rev. John
Barnes officiating. Interment was private at
Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the A. J. Miller
Masonic Lodge # 204 and Thomson Shrine Club.
Mr. Montgomery was a lifelong resident of McDuffie
County, Georgia and was the son of the late Henry Grady
Montgomery, Sr. and the late Edith Ware Montgomery.
Following graduation from Thomson High School in
1948 he proudly served in the United States Army and
later became the owner and operator of Montgomery
Contracting. Active in the community where he lived, Mr.
Montgomery was a member of the A. J. Miller Masonic
Lodge #204, Thomson Shrine Club, the McDuffie County
Soil and Conservation Committee, Thomson Boat Club and
the Confederate Round Table in Washington, Georgia. He
was also a member of the First United Methodist Church,
Thomson where he was an active member of the J.O.Y.
Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Thayer C. Montgomery
of Thomson; sons, Henry Grady Montgomery, III, San
Francisco, CA, Charles Montgomery and fiance, Elizabeth
Shepard of Monticello, FL, Nicholas Nick Montgomery
of Thomson; daughter, Lynn Martin and husband, Jeff
of St. Simons, G, sister, Annette Montgomery Pannell
of Thomson; grandchildren, Lindsey Martin and Katie
Martin.
