Vocational program awards

Thomson High School held its annual Career Technical Agricultural Education banquet at First Baptist Church of Thomson on Friday night.

Top award winners were:

- Chevy Phillips, Top of Class award

- Brett Jenkins, Excellence in Construction award

- Josh Jones, Haley Fuller Spirit award. Fuller died in a motor-vehicle accident last year.

Phillips, along with Dakota Aldred, also won the state Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills championship in April. They will compete in the national contest in Dearborn, Mich., in June.

Jenkins placed first in the state Skills USA plumbing contest and will compete in the national contest in Kansas City, Mo., next month.
