Mrs. Louella C. Whitaker

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Louella C. Whitaker, age 78, widow of Mr. Herbert D. Whitaker Sr., died Saturday, May 21, 2011, in the Doctors Hospital. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, in the Fort Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Bray officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Whitaker was a native of Johnson County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She had retired from the Fort Gordon Army PX. She was a member of the Fort Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Survivors include her two daughters, Teresa (Emory) McNair, Stapleton; Vivian (Lennard) McBride, Waynesboro; her two sons, Herbert D. (Cathy) Whitaker Jr., Warrenton; Michael Thomas (Melanie) Whitaker, Montgomery Ala.; her two brothers, J.T. Carter, Charles Carter, both of Guyton Ga.; 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
