Police Beat

Teen faces charges

A 17-year-old is facing charges in connection with a pair of burglaries in Thomson.

Capt. Jamie Bridges of the Thomson Police Department said Adetrious McGahee, of the 400 block of Edgar Circle, was arrested May 25 on Gordon Street and charged with two counts of burglary.

The charges involve a break-in on Gordon Street and another on Edgar Circle.

Initially, Bridges said, another person was arrested, but McGahee told investigators he was responsible for both break-ins.

Burglary reported

A Dearing man says someone stole items worth $550 in addition to luggage and clothing from his home on May 24.

Carlos O. Martinez, of Larkin Road, told McDuffie County sheriff's Deputy John Norton that he and his roommates arrived home about 6 p.m. to find that about $180 in coins, a camera worth $240 and a cell phone valued at $130 were missing, according to an incident report. A luggage bag and clothing also had been taken.

The residents said the mobile home was easy to get into.

Man charged

A Thomson man was arrested May 23 and charged with theft by taking and credit card fraud.

Capt. Jamie Bridges of the Thomson Police Department said James Burgamy, 33, of Arnall Street, stole a Weed Eater, a battery charger, a debit card and coins in a break-in in the 400 block of Fluker Street. He is charged with one count each of felony theft by taking and financial transaction card fraud, Bridges said. He said all of the stolen items were recovered.
