Unearthing history
From Staff
Twelve young people ranging in age from 11 to 15 are participating in an archaelogical dig camp this week at Hickory Hill in Thomson. On Tuesday, they explored an area alongside the J.D. Watson Cabin, looking for nails, glass and other evidence of the portion of the cabin that once occupied the site. J.D. Watson was the son of Tom Watson, the patriarch of Hickory Hill. The original cabin was larger than what is on the site now, Hickory Hill educator Sydney Peden said.
