Armed robbery reported at Augusta Highway business

Thomson police are seeking a man who robbed a business on Augusta Highway this morning.

Chief Joe Nelson said the man entered the business at 10:55 a.m. armed with a gun. He took a debit card and a small amount or money from the cash drawer, Nelson said.

The chief said bloodhounds were called out and that the debit card was recovered.

He described the robber as a young black male of medium build, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 155 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue hoodie and dark shorts.

The chief did not know the name of the business. It was closed this afternoon, but signs on a fence around the property listed two business -- Southeastern Granite and USA Groundcover. Calls to a number on the door were not answered and a message left on an answering machine at that number was not immediately returned.
