Mr. Jacob L. Goodwin, Jr.
AUGUSTA, Ga. -Mr. Jacob L. Goodwin, Jr., 78, husband
of 54 years to Virginia Barden Goodwin of Augusta, entered
into rest Saturday, June 25, 2011.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 12
noon in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Philip Burdette
officiating.
Mr. Goodwin was born in Richmond County and was
a son of the late Jacob L. Goodwin, Sr. and Emma Iona
Wagner Goodwin. He had served in the U.S. Army during
the Korean Conflict and retired from the VA Hospital
Carpenters Shop.
Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his son Kenneth
L. Kenny Goodwin, his brother, Wayne Goodwin and his
sister Annette Yates.
Additional survivors include his son, Faron Goodwin,
Augusta; his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Robert
Slaughter of Augusta; his granddaughter, Ashley Slaughter
of Evans; his brother, W.T. Bill Goodwin, Martinez; sisters,
Montine Frost of Thomson, Eleanor Wright of Augusta and
Mary Crawford of Evans.
Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors was in charge of
arrangements.
