Mr. Julius Watson Tanner, Sr.

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Julius Watson Tanner, Sr., 90, of
Thomson, died July 30, 2011. Graveside services with full
military honors will be held at 10 a.m., August 4, 2011, at
Hillcrest Memorial Park. The Rev. Tim Ferrell will officiate.
Mr. Tanner was born in Butts County, Ga., but lived most of
his life in Augusta, before moving to Thomson seven years ago.
He was a retired Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army with 21
years of service. He served during World War II and the Korean
Conflict. Mr. Tanner was also retired from Gracewood Hospital
as the steam plant operator. He was a member of Bethel Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his children: sons, Julius Butch Tanner, Jr.
and wife, Sherry, of Augusta, Michael Tanner and wife, Debra,
of Jacksonville, and Bruce Tanner and wife, Jan, of Thomson;
daughters, Toni Kilmer and husband, Corey, of Cumming,
and Melanie Radford and husband, Mike, of Augusta; 12
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Tanner was
preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edna Lassiter Tanner, a son,
LCPL William L. Billy Tanner and a granddaughter, Sarah Grace
Junkins.
