The McDuffie County School District will operate an afterschool program in all elementary schools and the middle school for the 2011-2012 school year.
McDuffie Educational and Enrichment Programs for Students (MEEPS), an afterschool program previously operated with grant funds in five schools, no longer exists.
Beginning Aug. 29, Dearing Elementary School Afterschool Program, Thomson Elementary School Afterschool Program, Maxwell Elementary School Afterschool Program, Norris Elementary School Afterschool Program, and Thomson-McDuffie Middle School Afterschool Program will serve students with a fee-based program at a rate of $20 per week per child. The new afterschool program will offer a structure similar to the previous MEEPS program.
