All across the McDuffie County School District, students were welcomed back to school Thursday by teachers and administrators eager to get the new school year off to a good start.

At Norris Elementary, young faces filled the auditorium and learned what would be expected of them for the school year before heading back to their separate classrooms. All of the second-grade classes at Thomson Elementary got a tour of their new school, which included the library, the cafeteria, the nurse's office and more.

Thomson Middle School Principal Neal Tam said over the weekend that it was the smoothest first two days of school he's ever experienced.
