Mr. Josephus (Jack) James
LAKELAND, Fla. - Mr. Josephus (Jack) James, 80, passed
away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011.
Mr. James was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Wrens. He came to
Lakeland in 1954 after serving in the United States Army from
1951 to 1953, where he served with the 45th Infantry division
in the Korean War. He was employed with Swift Meat Packing
until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Eaton Park for 56 years.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years,
Ernestine James, brother John James, and sister Louise Coe.
He is survived by a daughter, Terry Buckley and husband,
Jack, Lakeland; sister, Sara Cranford; sisters-in-law, Dianne
James Curl, Thomson, and Jean Bachelor, Margate, Fla.;
grandson, Jerin Wells, USMC Quantico, Va.; stepgrandchildren,
Jay Buckley (Sandee), Nicholas Buckley (Jaclyn) and Erica
Mortimer (Anthony).
A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 2, at 1:30 p.m.
at the First Baptist Church of Eaton Park, 3044 Atlantic Ave.,
Eaton Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund
of Eaton Park Baptist Church, or Good Shepherd Hospice.
