Neither coach was happy with the batting after Thomas Jefferson Academy and Briarwood Academy squared off Sept. 8, but at least Briarwood had a victory for their efforts.
The Lady Bucs defeated the Lady Jaguars 3-2 in 61/2 innings.
"We didn't hit the ball well," said Briarwood coach Hannah Demore.
"We just didn't get the big hits," said TJ coach Adam Brett.
The Bucs came from behind with two in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman Kylie Guy drove in the tieing run and then scored the go-ahead run.
Guy also made the last out, catching a pop-up to leave a TJ baserunner stranded at third.
The teams had met earlier in the season, and Briarwood had prevailed 9-1.
"For some reason, we decided to make it interesting this time," DeMore said.
