Reese leads MS Bucs to 4th win

The Briarwood Middle School football team improved to 4-0 on Sept. 15 with a 24-14 win over Thomas Jefferson Academy.

"Once again our kids played hard and left it all on the field," Briarwood Coach Bo Fleming said. "Dakota (Reese) had another great game on the ground but he could not have done it without the blocking of our offensive line."

The Jags received the opening kickoff and picked up two first downs before punting the ball away. It pinned the Bucs at the 6-yard line. The Bucs went on a 10-play, 94-yard drive down the field ending on a 1-yard Reese touchdown. He would also add the 2-point conversion, making it 8-0 with 34 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Jags scored on their next possession on a 35-yard TD run; however the 2-point run failed, making the score 8-6 with 6:02 left in second quarter. That would be the score at halftime.

The Bucs received the kickoff and again drove down the field and scored on a 14-yard run by Reese. He added the 2-point conversion to make it 16-6 with 6:16 left in the third quarter.

Thomas Jefferson came right back on their next possession and scored on a 24-yard run. The 2-point conversion pass was good, making it 16-14 with 5:04 left in the third quarter.

The last score came on a 9-yard Reese run. He also added the 2-point conversion, making it 24-14 with 5:45 left in the fourth. The Jaguars were turned away on their last drive by a Jeb Blount interception. The Bucs then ran the clock out.

The Bucs will host Brentwood Academy at 6 tonight.
