A Columbia County teenager was airlifted to a hospital after a head-on collision Sept. 16.
The accident occurred at 5:09 p.m. on Augusta Highway, said Capt. Paul Cosper, the public information officer for the Georgia State Patrol.
Alvin Bullard, 17, of Harlem, was traveling east in a 1984 Mitsubishi Precis. While negotiating a curve, his car went off the right shoulder of the road for unknown reasons, Cosper said.
Cosper said Bullard then over-corrected, causing his car to rotate. He crashed head-on into a westbound car, a 2001 Cadillac Seville driven by George Hayes, 34, of Augusta. The front of the Cadillac struck the passenger side of the Mitsubishi, cutting it in two.
Bullard sustained serious injuries that were not life-threatening and was airlifted to Georgia Health Sciences University. Hayes refused treatment at the scene of the accident.
