The Briarwood Middle school football team improved to 6-0 with a 44-20 victory over Augusta Prep on Thursday night.
"It was a total team effort tonight," coach Bo Fleming said. "The offensive line controlled the game. They gave us a chance to have a big day running the football. Got to come to work next week and get ready for a tough Gatewood team."The Bucs recovered an onside kick to start the game. The Bucs scored first, on a 5-yard TD run by Dakota Reese. Tripp Harper added the 2-point conversion.
Augusta Prep offense drove to the Bucs' 10-yard line before Jeb Blount intercepted a pass and raced 90 yards down the right sideline for a Bucs Touchdown. Reese added the 2-point conversion.
The Bucs scored again on a 6-yard run by Reese. Harper added the 2-point conversion. The Bucs scored on their first possession of the second half. Reese scored on a 15-yard run. The 2-point conversion failed, making the score 30-0 with 6:35 left in third quarter. Augusta Prep got on the board with a 2- yard TD run. They added the 2-point conversion. The Cavaliers recovered an onside kick and scored on a 35-yard TD pass. The 2-point conversion failed making the score 30-14.
Harper scored on a 3-yard TD run. Blount added the conversion.
Augusta Prep scored on a 3-yard TD pass. The 2-point play failed, making it 38-20.
The Bucs scored again on 67- yard run by Reese. The 2-point play failed.
The Bucs host Gatewood Academy at 5:30 tonight.
