As the Bucs drove toward the end zone with 2:50 left in the half, the Rebels held the Bucs to a fourth down. The Bucs had a decision to make -- to go for it or kick the field goal from the 21-yard line. The decision was to kick a 38-yard field goal by Reese, and it was up and good; the Bucs went in at half, 35-0.
The Bucs scored two more times in the game with a twenty-five option play by Fifth Newton, and a power dive to the right by Bryce Sowell for thirty yards.
"Everyone played well Friday; I was proud for all of our players," Coach John Osborne said.
He said Friday was good for the younger players because they saw a lot of playing time, which helped them gain experience.
Though this gives the Bucs two wins in the region, Osborne said they must stay focused as they go into their next game against the Covenant Academy Rams from Macon. The Rams are 4-1 in regular play and also 2-0 in the region.Osborne said Covenant seems to be clicking on all cylinders, and they have a high-powered offense. Covenant has been putting up a lot of points with their offense, they throw the ball well, and they have three very good receivers.
He said his team will have to get prepared to stop the pass this week to be successful.
The Bucs play their homecoming game Friday at 7:30 at Briarwood Academy.
