Mrs. Rebecca Strother Gobble
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Rebecca Strother Gobble, 89,
widow of Mr. Henry R. Joe Gobble, died Monday, Sept.
26, 2011, in the Mount Pleasant Alternative Care Home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept.
29, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Ficklen Guin and the Rev. David Walker officiating.
Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gobble was a native of Loco, Ga., but lived
most of her life in Thomson. She was a homemaker
and a charter member of the Thomson First Baptist
Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday
School Class. Mrs. Gobble was preceded in death by her
daughter, Jane Reid.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mrs. Pat (
Billy) Thornton, Washington; Mrs. Linda (Bobby)
Reese, Thomson; Mrs. Amelia Harrison, Thomson; her
sister, Mrs. Lois Thornton, Thomson; sister-in-law, Mrs.
Sadie Strother, Thomson; 11-grandchildren, 21- greatgrandchildren,
and 11- great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Buffington, Bill Thornton, Jay
Harrison, Joel Reid, Tim Cosby, and Robbie Cowart.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
