Mrs. Mary Ann Usry Rabun
Retired City Clerk
GIBSON, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Ann Usry Rabun,
74, of Gibson, beloved wife of Mr. Gene Rabun,
died Monday evening Oct. 17, 2011, surrounded by
her family and loved ones.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Oct. 20 in the
Gibson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed
Chance and the Rev. Griffin Thompson officiating.
Burial followed in the family lot of the Gibson United
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Usry, Kevin Usry, Aubrey
Usry, Gary Usry, Rusty Rabun, and Glenn Rabun.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Wells, Kenney
Wells, Tony Greene, Ronny Rabun, Donald Kent,
Lester, Hadden.
Mrs. Rabun, the daughter of Mr. John Hammond
Usry and Thelma Brown Usry, was a native of
Gibson. She was the first full-time city clerk and held
the position for 29 years and was a member of the
Gibson United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rabun was preceded in death by her parents; a
daughter, Donna Marie Rabun; and a brother, Marvin
Usry and is survived by her husband of 57 years,
Eugene Rabun; daughters: Karen (Warren) Newsome
of Thomson, and Anita May of Gibson; brother,
John Hammond (Miriam) Usry, Jr. of Gibson; sister,
Juanita Boeglen of Martinez; sister-in-law, Jane Usry
of Gibson; three grandchildren: Tracy Newsome,
Jerry (Courtney) Wood, and Miranda May; four
great-grandchildren: Ashleigh (Steven) Parish,
Autumn Smith, Mason
Wood, and Carson Wood;
aunt Edna Newsome of
Gibson, several nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
