Mayoral Election Statements: Delmar "Brink" Bradshaw

(Thomson businessman Delmar B. "Brink" Bradshaw is a candidate for mayor of Thomson in the Nov. 8 election. Bradshaw is a real estate broker with Bradshaw Land & Realty. The following is a shortened form of a statement he released upon filing his candidacy in August.)

Objectives: involvement in government for all people; better housing for our families; encourage job creation through support of local businesses; use tax monies to empower the people; support city employees.

Governmental, executive and professional experience: Experienced with political relationships with various government entities and agencies; experienced with meeting with CEOs of agencies to coordinate government activities and budgets; previous chairman of the City of Thomson Planning and Zoning Commission; public service as elected official for the city of Thomson's citizens as city councilman.

Community service: deacon of First Baptist Church and served with the Boy Scouts of America at Camp Knox on the development committee and as Little River District chairman; member of City of Thomson's Festival Off Main committee for downtown development with the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce.

Job creation and industrial plant sector experience: work experience with direct contact and negotiations with business owners, plant managers, department heads and human resources officers to plan, conduct and successfully perform complex projects within the confines of the modern plant environment to develop local jobs.

Housing and commercial business development: Real estate and general contractor experiences can be employed to help bring new businesses into our community.

Support of our existing local businesses: Reduce governmental regulations that slow business development and that stop the expansion of jobs and new buildings.

Personnel management experience: recruiting, training, hiring and managing personnel; experience in human resources drug screening, employment verification and job skills testing; at one time, 250 direct-hire employees under my supervision; officer in charge to manage people, money and project administration.

Lifelong learning for educational training: bachelor of landscape architecture from the University of Georgia; registered landscape design professional since 1981, registered in Georgia and South Carolina; Georgia Storm Water Level II Design professional experience; real estate salesperson and broker required training and certification for the state of Georgia; senior level professional experience can utilize the educational experiences to improve and empower the public worker for a better job opportunity. ...
