VETERANS DAY celebration

WHEN: 2:15 p.m. Nov. 10.

WHERE: Thomson-McDuffie Middle School

DETAILS: Local Veterans are invited to attend, and are asked to sign in at the front office upon arrival at the school. Principal Neal Tam will introduce Gen. Dewayne Patrick, the guest speaker. The school will recognize TMMS faculty and staff veterans. The Thomson High School Jazz Band will perform. Gunnery Sgt. Larry Dunn and the Thomson High Color Guard and Drill Team will perform at the conclusion.

TRASH AMNESTY DAY

WHEN: 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday

WHERE: McDuffie County solid waste transfer station, 514 Tankersley Road

DETAILS: Residents may discard unregulated trash. The recycling center will not accept asbestos, tires, mobile homes or automobiles. For private individuals only.
