Six local artists received awards for their paintings in a competition held at the Georgia-Carolina State Fair in Augusta.
Each year, many Georgia and South Carolina residents submit art to be judged. The pieces represent all kinds of artistic mediums, and the artists range in age from preschool children to senior citizens.
Thomson resident Bodie Cummings, who submitted four pieces this year, said he enjoys the competition and meeting other artists from around the area.
"Everyone's real friendly and willing to share their opinions," he said.
