The Thomson High School competitive cheerleading team placed second in its division at a competition in Statesboro, Ga., on Saturday.
Overall, 15 teams took part in the competition.
"I am very proud of how well they did," said head coach Amy Hitt. "They hit all of their stunts and just really made me proud."
She said they have their work cut out for them as they clean up their routine for the regional competition this weekend.
The girls are more excited and better prepared now that they know what to expect, Hitt said.
The Briarwood Academy competitive cheerleading team won its division Saturday at Brentwood Academy in Sandersville, Ga.
The team placed first in the AA division and was named grand champion for the entire competition, meaning Briarwood garnered the highest score of all competing teams.
