Mr. Billy J. Chalker
Retired Mechanic
WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. Billy J. Chalker, 80,
beloved husband of 61 years of Mrs. Mary Lou
Chalker of Warrenton, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at
the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m.. Monday,
Oct. 31, 2011, at the Johnson United Methodist
Church with Dr. Phil May and the Rev. David Jenkins
officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Cemetery.
Mr. Chalker, a native of Glascock County, was
the son of the late Albert and Eva Hardin Chalker
and had lived in Warren County since 1950. He
was retired with civil service at Fort Gordon and the
retired owner of Chalker Antiques. Mr. Chalker was a
member and Past Master of Franklin Masonic Lodge
# 11, member and Past High Priest of the Hubert
Chapter 120 Royal Arch and the Cleopatra Chapter
241 Eastern Star. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Chalker
served in the Korean War. Mr. Chalker was a member
and former chairman of the board of Johnson United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Coxwell
Chalker; one daughter, Belinda Chalker (Donald)
Kitchens; one son, Milton A. (Kathy) Chalker; three
grandchildren, Adam Chalker, Price Chalker, and
Drew Kitchens, all of Warrenton; one sister-in-law,
Edith Chalker of Gibson; and a brother-in-law, Ralph
Gifford, Sr. of Snellville; and several nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Chalker was preceded in death by two sisters,
Mary Anna May and Mildred Gifford and two
brothers, Clois Chalker and Loys Chalker.
Pallbearers were Ralph Gifford, Jr. Tim Chalker,
John Gunn Adam Chalker, Price Chalker, and Drew
Kitchens. Honorary Pallbearers were members of
Franklin Lodge # 11 and Eston Usry, Jamie Gunn,
Winnard Chalker, Joe Johnson, Louie Chalker,
Lynwood Johnson, and Wayne Coxwell.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials
be made to the Johnson Cemetery Fund, c/o Mr. Joe
Shurley, 642 Shurley Road, Warrenton, GA 30828.
Lowe Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
