Letter carrier Barney "Lum" Wells (left), who works from the Thomson Post Office, has garnered two major honors. In June at the Georgia Rural Letter Carriers Association State Convention in St. Simon's Island, Ga., Wells was given the Rural Letter Carrier of the Year award for 2011. At the National Rural Letter Carrier's Association convention in Savannah, Ga., Wells was presented the NRLCA Outstanding Member award. He was also presented the association's commemorative watch. Wells has delivered the mail on his route for 41 years, with a commitment to quality customer service. Wells is shown receiving his Outstanding Member award from NRLCA National President Don Cantrell.
