Local officials responded to Thomson High School on Tuesday to investigate a bomb threat, but Thomson Police Chief Joe Nelson said no explosives were found.
Dawud Bashawn Jones, 18, of the 1300 block of Culpepper Circle, was apprehended in connection to the threat. He is a ninth grader at Sand Hills.
At 2:27 p.m., the Thomson Police Department was told that an individual identifying himself as Arnold Schwarzenegger called dispatch to say he had placed a bomb at THS. The TPD, an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives field office in Augusta and a representative from the State Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene at 2:34 p.m.
Nelson said they met with school personnel and evacuated the campus.
Police learned the phone used to make the call hit off a cell tower in the Twin Oaks Road area. Officers learned that Jones was at the Thomson Boys & Girls Club, where they made contact with him at 4:20 p.m.
Jones made a full confession to Sgt. Marquis Murray, a TPD investigator.
Jones is being held at the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center for terroristic threats and actions, Nelson said.
