The next Sip 'N See reception at the MAC on Main Art Gallery and Studio will coincide with Thomson's annual tree lighting, which takes place across the street at The Depot.
The McDuffie Arts Council's free Christmas reception will take place from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. It is free to attend.
The event will feature new art on display, including sculptures created by Marion Ivey and Bracton Ivey, wooden bowls handcrafted by Barry Callaway and paintings done by Kelli Brooks.
Tire City Potters, based in Augusta, will bring a pottery wheel to the sidewalk outside the gallery to give a live demonstration of creating ceramic art.
Another feature the gallery offers is the "small wall," which was introduced at the October Sip 'N See. It includes a variety of smaller, more affordable paintings that can be bought as Christmas gifts, said Anne Knox, a member of the MAC gallery committee.
The display creates a new price category of paintings, starting at $28.
"We have Christmas gifts from $6 on up," Knox said, indicating a small ceramic bowl. She also suggests giving art lessons, which the gallery offers for everyone from elementary school pupils to seniors.
