Fernanda's will focus on quality, prices, owner says

Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce members gathered Nov. 17 to welcome Fernanda's Grill & Pizzeria, which opened Nov. 14.

Fernanda Mata, 8, of Grovetown, helped cut the ceremonial ribbon in front of 127 N. Main St.

The restaurant owners are Fiorentino and Maricela "Mary" Mata and Armando and Bella Reyes. Mary Mata and Bella Reyes are sisters. The Matas also own Mi Rincancito restaurant and a panaderia in Grovetown. The Reyes also own Armando's restaurants in Grovetown and Harlem.

Armando Reyes welcomed the chamber members and the public to the Thursday ceremony. He said the restaurant project has been "a big ride" for the families. He promised some big surprises for customers in the weeks ahead. Reyes said Fernanda's will stress quality, prices and service.

Restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Fernanda's is closed Sundays.

The menu features nine appetizers, including popcorn shrimp and wings. Nine salads are available, in two sizes. The menu also features calzones and strombolis, pizzas, hot and cold subs, and more than 20 dinners. The children's menu offers eight items, priced at $3.50.

Delivery is available for a $2 fee with a $15 minimum order. Call (706) 595-2625.

Fernanda's occupies the former home of Platters restaurant, next door to the former Big Dipper ice cream shop.
