Thomson has turned on the lights for Santa Claus

A Christmas crowd swarmed Railroad Street and the grounds of the Thomson Depot on Thursday as Thomson and McDuffie County ushered in the Christmas season. Mayor Kenneth Usry welcomed the crowd and introduced the youngster who flipped the switch to light the city's tree. Children from local elementary schools shared songs of the season. Art lovers strolled across Main Street to the Mac on Main art gallery, where the Tire City Potters from Augusta gave a pottery throwing demonstration. The Sip & See also ushered in the winter art season. Back at The Depot, the crowd cleared the way on Railroad Street when Santa arrived by firetruck.
