Santa is coming to town to help pets

Santa will welcome visitors at the Best Western White Columns Inn at 1890 Washington Road in Thomson on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.

He'll be available for free pictures with kids and small pets.

Visitors should bring their cameras and, if possible, a donation.

Santa's visit is in conjunction with the Kibble for Kritters program, a holiday collection of pet food and pet items donated by the community for CSRA Happy Tails Rescue. Donations are welcome.

The McDuffie County Animal Shelter will showcase its puppies, dogs, kittens and cats available for adoption.

Shelter staffers encourage visitors to open their hearts and homes for the holidays.

Visitors can also take pictures with the Best Western show car, which is a street-legal 2007 Toyota Camry with decals like the Best Western car driven by David Reutimann of Michael Waltrip Racing in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series.

For further information on the Kibble program and a list of items needed, visit kibbleforkritters.net.

Kibble for Kritters is a partnership between the CSRA Happy Tails Rescue of Appling and participating hotels.

Contributors are encouraged to drop off cat food and dog food, toys, litter, bedding, treats, food and water bowls, cleaning products for the rescue's daily operations, and recycled bed/bath linens, which the rescue turns into bedding for the animals.
