Fain is wastewater supervisor

The Thomson City Council has confirmed Lamar Fain in the position of supervisor of the wastewater treatment department.

The council voted Dec. 8 to make the appointment permanent. Fain had served as interim superintendent since the retirement of Charles Montgomery on May 17.

City Administrator Don Powers commended Fain for his service in that role. Fain has performed his duties and is very good with personnel, Powers said.

Fain's salary increases from $43,264 to $44,799 with the promotion.

In another matter, the council overruled a Historic Preservation Commission decision. That board had voted to deny Larry Montgomery's request for limited use of vinyl siding at 209 Lee St. Montgomery told the council that many nearby and even adjacent structures have vinyl siding. The council overturned the Oct. 3 HPC vote.
